WIPee work commence's

Its Simone the skull boy.

From the 11th onwards (AYACON!!!) I will be pushing up my attempts of artistic endeavor.

Collaborating with Oli Aurelius Satterly on a very promising concept. Infact, too promising. As we now have to chaff out some of the plethora of ideas, in the hunny that resides within this creative melting pot.

I jest.....but it is rather good.

Of course there will be more collaborations with Cali Cucumber who now resides in the ironically not so neutral grounds of teeside.

New Beginnings

I feel I have to post something, to start something so thats what this message is about.

Well my plans for the moment regarding work is this:
  • start 3d to 2d project. The idea is to create assets in 3d for a rendered illustration. Like Soa Lee <3
  • I need my own website. doesnt have to be large. just there.
  • Portfolio layout. Because layout and graphics are important ^^
  • Webcomic. Ambitious, but i've always wanted one since i read megatokyo four years ago.

textured!

Well, this (he) is the result of many, many hours work. I'm pleased with certain elements (not all) but am aware of time constraints stopping me from taking this design further.

If i find any further time to add to this sculpt it will be adding gash and wound marks across the legs and back. I would also like to up the quality of the texture overall. The antler could be darker and the shorts could do with further highlighting.

I love this characters backstory and i am very pleased that some of the original ideas from my design has come through, it was hard to create a (face) tribal character with a sympathetic edge.

Sculpt work on my dom war entry. Although i didnt finish this in time for the event, it was a learning agreement aim that i am required to fulfill.

hair and bow VC update

here we are. modelled with zspheres and primitives in zbrush. the bow should have the 'tails' added later today although it does look nice how it is.

EDIT: the whole face has been remodeled because of some poor organisation on my part. i imported the wrong mesh (unedited) into zbrush and only realised the ztool had two areas of 5sided faces very late in the day. The whole debiacle has ended up improving the model no end.

ape clothes decoration

here is this morning (and last nights) work. originally my character was an amazonian tribes chief. now he seems rather inuity. so i guess this is the head of the abominable snowman.

i think this head really needs to be retopologised :(

hands. 'help the aged'

here are the hands i've been working on the past few days. i may go over the nail area again but this is as much detail as i (or my pc for that matter) will go to on these hands. enjoy. click for large image.

dom war progress

After a lackluster start back. I've finally gained a little momentum. This is a wip shot of my dom war char. Most of the basic meshes have been made and taken into zbrush, where the real sculpting takes place. The face is progressing really well and the armor (now hidden) was also looking good.

The female victorian character is now in zbrush. I'm not as pleased with the face although its hard to gauge how the final product will look once the hair has been added. Sculpting frilly bits is next and in all honesty, i'm not looking forward to how time consuming this will be.

Onwards

Well, this is the product of the last few days. The small image doesn't show any of the wood engraved pattern work that took so long. so, click on the image please.

The result is good but i would like to go back and work on the hands and face at a later date. currently i have to push on with the next stage of the project. which is character profile creation and back story.

From there i can start my 3d work up again and my comic pages.

Zbrush (Bella)

The Bella concept taken into zbrush. This is starting to take shape, i've made all but one of the sub tools needed. The last being the googles and then i can really start sub dividing and detailing out this model. However i may have to retopologise early because the breast topology is not quite up to scratch. we shall see...

NTS (alpha's: zip, wool knit, font test)

Another base mesh. This time of Bella a concept by Jimmie @cubed-bullets. Getting the anime style down in 3d is quite challenging ^-^

This should make for a very cool finished piece come exhibition day.

I've also been working on creating my own font. This doesn't seem as hard as first thought. However, i have never used illustrator or font lab studio before and font lab has little online support.

Victorian clothing designs

Clothing ideas are taking shape. Victorian costume design is difficult to keep accurate because of the social implications of each outfit.

Quite like the idea of a female protagonist dressing up as a boy to hide her identity.

DomWAR base mesh

here is base mesh for my dominance war entry. you can see my progress here, trying to do something each day.....while not neglecting FMPA2.

this will be retopologised in zbrush.

Female base mesh

Finished female base mesh. Ready to take into Zbrush. The face had to be redesigned to allow edge loops around the eyes and mouth. The hands have been added ( i saved the hardest bit for last).

Going to work on this solely tomorrow. Basically go through the whole development process as i do not have a clothes design. Probably starting with Alchemy.

Anatomy studies

anatomy studies to ease myself back in to drawing. software knowledge and art out put in general has felt underpowered until now.

i've also been working on my dominance war character so i'm really starting to get up to speed again.

Lady mesh update

more for (progress) record keeping than anything else.
here is my female mesh approx two or three hours on from the last post.

Just the hands left now, will try and finish tonight if i can.

The tutorial with Nigel went well today, giving me a better insight to comic/ sequential art. This will help the 2D aspect of this project. If all goes well, i will have a mock up for him before we break up for Easter.

Start mesh

well i personally started FMPA2 last week and have used my time structuring; my work, tutorials or polygons.

I think i should always be pushing to be more organised, so i have made tutorials with MC, sally and nigel to keep me on track. The project itself is being pushed three ways; bringing together FMPA1, 2D narrative imagery and 3D modelling.

Here is progress on a female mesh. I have used references quite heavily, i'm trying to obtain a fair level of realism. The face is a little too low poly at the moment but other than that, i'm pleased with the topology (which i didn't reference)

this has sadly taken around 5 hours. i guess practice makes perfect. the male mesh i'll try and box model.

The Next Chapter

FMPA1 has all but finished and i'm really looking forward to next semester where i can start using 3d and 2d for my own means. Lets see how close to industry standard i can get before i leave, shall we?

I plan on participating in dominance war this year. I won't get far, but we all have to start somewhere :)

but first we have presentations and dissertations to deal with,
so,
good luck everyone!

revision of cover

yeah, i didn't like the folder so much after all. so it's been transformed into a book cover.

god bless photoshop

layout design finished :)

here is the predominant design for the presentation slides I'm working on. I'm pleased with the result, things fell into place after Nigel told me how to sort out a layer problem i had in PS. Partly inspired by the tattoo's that the Stereophonics vocalist has.

Oh, the anatomy talk was good today. very informative. It may not help now but will be useful next semester.

P is for progress

It's been so long since i've done any real artwork, but here i am. Everything coming up over the next few days will be layout work for my presentation. It's been even longer since i have done any 3D work. The next semester will be amazing. I can get back to drawing and 3d sculpting!

Note: will post cover design. blogger upload system seems to be down.
